GKS GmbH: Locking Solutions and Tank Sealing Systems

We are a leading company in the development, manufacturing and testing of locking solutions and tank sealing systems, offering both standard and customised solutions. Our production flexibility allows us to supply small batches as well as series production for motorcycle manufacturers. We represent the state of the art in the assembly and testing of locking systems and tank caps. Furthermore, we offer engineering, testing and validation services in line with current standards and customer-specific requirements.

The short tale of a long story
1930: NEIMAN GmbH

The Neiman Group was founded in 1930 in Cologne by Abram Neiman, inventor of the theft-proof steering ignition lock. From the very beginning, the company was distinguished by three characteristics: dedication to the automotive industry, the development of international manufacturing and a commitment to technological progress.

In 1980, Neiman GmbH moved its production plant from Wuppertal to Haan.

In 1988, the company was taken over by the French automotive supplier Valeo S.A.

1990: GKS GmbH

Two enterprising employees of Neiman GmbH founded GKS GmbH on 1 January 1990, taking over the two-wheeler division from the Valeo Group. The plant has since been expanded with new offices.

We are proud to have kept the NEIMAN brand alive in Haan, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia not far from Düsseldorf.

GKS is a leading OEM supplier to motorcycle manufacturers such as BMW AG.

1997: GKS becomes part of ZADI

In 1997, GKS became part of the ZADI Group, an Italian industrial group based in Carpi (MO), which operates in the automotive sector, developing and producing locking systems, key sets, lighting and more. Joining the group allowed GKS to expand its know-how and to offer products and services on the international market.

2018: GKS becomes part of HB4

In 2018, the family grew! GKS and other companies from the ZADI Group became part of HB4, a holding company operating worldwide in several industrial sectors. HB4 has invested in technological know-how and increased the companies’ capacity for innovation.

Abram Neiman, the company’s founder, developed a keen interest in motorcycle construction early in life, thanks to his brilliant engineering talent. Neiman began manufacturing steering wheel locks in a factory he established in Cologne, Germany.

Mercedes-Benz was the first car manufacturer to use his ingenious lock as original equipment.
